If we want to develop a community of practice
at the university, first of all, we need to change our minds. What I mean is,
for example that sharing educational materials, like resources, and the related
experiences is the best way to give direction to our own work, we can find this
information in the book “Innovative Approaches for Learning
and Knowledge Sharing”,
(Busetti et al,p.2006). I also consider that it is not just that. In my
opinion, it can be encouraged by focusing on saving time as well.
A sense of community among teachers
at the university can be developed by forming the building blocks of learning
with peers. What does it mean? We have
to deepen our knowledge and expertise in an area by interacting on an ongoing
basis considering the three essential characteristics of a Cop, i.e. Domain,
Community and Practice.
Doing academic stuff is very
demanding. So, using online tools to collaborate with my peers will help us to
do our job easier. For example, if I find an interesting resource, I can send
it immediately to my peers and ask them for their opinion for using it in a
research that we doing… Even more, with the use of technology, it is now
possible to facilitate those interactions not only with peers at the same
university but with other peers around the world that have the same domain of
interest.
